Speakers' Series: Saving the Southern Resident Orcas

with Mark Leiren-Young

Today's presenter will be talking about the past, present and future of the world's most famous whales.  Mark is the author of a new orca book for readers of all ages - Orcas Everywhere - and the national bestseller The Killer Whale Who Changed the World - which tells the story of Moby Doll, the first orca ever displayed in captivity. He directed the award-winning documentary The Hundred-Year-Old Whale (the story of Granny) and hosts the Skaana podcast about orcas and oceans. When he isn’t writing about whales, Mark is one of Canada’s top humour writers. He has won the Leacock Medal for Humour for his comic memoir Never Shoot a Stampede Queen.

The talk begins at 1915 and a buffet will be served at 1800.  If you wish to come to the buffet please contact our staff and make a reservation.  The cost of the buffet is $30, including taxes and gratuity.
