Membership benefits include:

  • Moorage - discount available at North Saanich Marina
  • Reciprocal Moorage - is free or at a reduced rate for one or more nights at more than 100 yacht clubs form Puget Sound to the Broughton Islands.
  • Sailing school - for children and adults.
  • Junior program - for 18 and under, - dinghy use, outings and regattas.
  • Access to the SNSYC fleet of boats - dinghies and keel boat. Get checked out and sail away!
  • Racing - program for the sailing enthusiast as well as for those interested in learning - crew and gain some confidence in racing, active year round schedule with weekly races.
  • Cruising - cruises are organized throughout the year…visit other marinas or wander farther afield on a long distance cruises with club members.
  • Connect at the many social events - including Sunday walks, the Speaker series, mixers and dances.
  • Facilities - are available to members for private functions and meetings.
  • Preferred Discounts - Members receive preferred discounts at local marine and other merchants.

Finally, the Club's Dining room and Lounge offer casual dining while enjoying a magnificent view of the harbour.


Membership Levels

Senior Member: Senior Membership is granted to adults 19 years of age or over, who are single, or a couple in a spousal, common law, or similar relationship. A Senior Membership shall be entitled to all the privileges of the Society. There is one vote per membership.

Intermediate Member: An Intermediate Membership is granted to adults between the ages of 19 and 39 inclusive, who are single, or a couple in a spousal, common law, or similar relationship. Where the Intermediate Membership Application involves more than one applicant, the age of the older applicant will be used for determining the applicable Initiation Fee and subsequent Annual Dues. Intermediate Members shall enjoy all the privileges of the Society, have the right to vote or hold office in the Society, but shall not have any proprietary rights in the assets of the Society. There are 4 divisions within the Intermediate membership as shown below.

Social Member: Social Membership is granted to adults 19 years of age or over, who are single, or a couple in a spousal, common law, or similar relationship and who are transitioning to non-boat owners, from Intermediate or Senior Membership status.  Social Members shall enjoy the privileges of the Society, but shall not have the right to vote or hold office in the Society, or enjoy any of the boating activities of the club except as the guest of another member, but they do have the right to use the club boats.

Junior Member: A Junior Member is a person eighteen (18) years of age or under, who may be accepted for Junior Membership if the applicant furnishes with his/her application and annual dues his/her parent or guardian’s written consent and agreement that they will be responsible for his/her actions and liabilities, and the parent or guardian agrees to accept responsibility for the Junior Member’s behaviour and well-being while on the Society’s property, and during Society organized activities.  Junior Members shall enjoy the privileges of the Society, but shall not have the right to vote or hold office in the Society, nor shall they have any proprietary rights in the assets of the Society.

Affiliate Member: An affiliate membership is granted to adults 19 years of age or older, who are single or a couple, provided the full dues have been paid, and is restricted to parents or guardians of junior members. This is a one-time only, temporary membership. Parents or guardians of junior members may extend their affiliate membership for up to five years in total,  provided one of the members of their household remains a junior member. Affiliate members pay no initiation fee, and annual dues are fifty (50) percent of senior membership dues. The annual dues are a fixed fee and are not prorated over the membership year. The affiliate member membership year is the same as the junior membership year. Affiliate members shall enjoy the privileges of the society, but shall not have the right to vote or hold office in the society, nor shall they have any proprietary rights in the assets of the society.

Corporate Member: Corporate Membership shall be open to any business entity (corporation, partnership, sole proprietorship etc.). Corporate Members shall have the right to designate up to three corporate representatives who will be issued membership cards. Corporate Member Representatives shall enjoy the privileges of the Society, but shall not have the right to vote or hold office in the Society, nor shall they have any proprietary rights in the assets of the Society, but may serve on Club committees and volunteer.

Notes:
  1. Senior, Intermediate, Social and Corporate memberships run from October 1 to September 30. 
  2. Annual dues are prorated based on fraction of membership year commencing October 1.
  3. Junior and Affiliate memberships run from June 1 to May 31. Rates are not prorated
  4. Intermediate member age is based on the older age of the member and associate
  5. Fees shown are exclusive of GST

Application

Application Forms are available below for download.  Please email or bring the completed application form to the club.  If you elect to pay your Annual Dues by monthly direct debit billing, please download and print the Pre-Authorized Debit Form, and submit with a void cheque.

Applications can also be submitted on-line.  If you submit on-line, please choose the option "invoice me" and we will send you instructions for payment procedures.  

Once your application has been received by the Membership Director, it will be posted in the Clubhouse for seven days as per our by-laws. Your application will then be voted upon by members of the Executive. The initiation fee and annual dues are payable at the time of application.

 The whole process takes about 10 days and the result of this vote will be reported to you via email.

  • Successful applicants will be contacted with details about their New Member’s Package
  • Unsuccessful applications will receive a refund.
